12  Jan  A Birthday Card  for a youngster and designed to inspire and interest them.

19 Jan   Animals and Cartoons Either / or combined

26 Jan    Surrealism   The sky is the limit, go back to the reason and meaning of surrealism if you wish but explain what your intention is.

2 Feb Pen and Wash There have been wonderful pen and wash sketches done of all subjects. Apply yourself to show the benefits of the medium. Could be a monochrome wash, pen before wash or wash before pen. Not necessarily wall to wall colour or pen. Think in terms of a sketchbook record of detail or capture the essence perhaps. Up to you.

9 Feb Flat Colour
Flat colour has not only used to limit the complexity of printing copies of a work but also to give a style or period to the work. Used with thought it can describe the contours of a subject.  A complicated object such as a face can be divided into distinct areas which are painted in flat colours without any change in tone across that area.

16 Feb  Less is More  Any medium. Look at this image. it is a scrap glass bottle and a single flower which is almost dead. The use of space, composition, colour and subject all make a piece of art which you just have to go on looking at.     This session is about taking something you would not normally give a second look at and using all the elements of art mentioned above, create a surprising image you feel you could say, look, there is so much here from so little.  Look at the still life work of artist Nathan Ford for inspiration but make it your own, not a repro of this artist.

  23 Feb  Acrylic Ink
First make sure you can still open those bottles again.
Your choice of subject could be abstract or anything you like. Perhaps make the use of the vivid light and colour and tonal density acrylic inks give. Could be a knock out.

2 Mar  Crowd Scene Crowds of people need to take perspective into consideration, not only in diminishing size with distance but placement of heads and feet. The subject offers endless artistic possibilites, particularly in impresssionism.   In these circumstances, more than six people may gather.

9 Mar Spring Flowers   With any luck we should have a wide selection available. The challenge is to capture the essence of Spring, the freshness, the light and most importantly, the feeling one gets.

Picture
16 Mar  Charcoal  The medium hardly needs any introduction, it is dramatic and impressive. Over to you.

23 Mar     The Shadows   Not Cliff Richard as a young man - Create a work which demonstrates shadows in form and colour.  Include sunlight across the corner of a building, branches cast across a raised cart track, the effect of shadows on different coloured surfaces - do all shadows appear to be the same colour?   This is a huge subject and not easy.
