11 Dec End of Year 2012
Depeche Art and End of Term Jolly
Before we party, how about trying some Depeche Art, which can be translated as art in a hurry. The principle is that you allow yourself as many minutes to do your drawing or painting as there are inches on the longest side of your piece of paper. Any medium.
You might like to try several, on pages of your sketchbook with a square or rectangle measured out to whatever size you fancy, or on paper no bigger than A4. Bring photos or other inspiration, as this will be a great exercise in editing and lively mark-making! Plus, unless we all use the same size paper at the same time (difficult to co-ordinate, maybe), your own personal oven timer would be very handy. Bring usual festive contributions to eat and drink, please.

Continue where Jenny left off using the same materials, small sketch book, water soluble pen, brush and a few watercolours. Selecting a section of a still life set up with lighting a series of studies looking at light, dark and shade. The emphasis should be on kit suitable for travel with limited equipment, simplification of the subject and tone.

Jenny is a terrific tutor and is an ace at travelling light with limited art material yet will demonstrate the best approach to building up a resource of sketch material for reference or use in future projects. Not a session to be missed.
