Summer Programme 2018 |
Updated 31st July 2018 |
17th April Kick off meeting Discuss plan for the Summer and play with gesso as a textured base for experimentation.
This Summer we should always try to have a clear objective or focus for the outdoor location you choose and arrange for "your" week so that we know what we are going to do and can prepare, medium, style, approach and do some research beforehand. See the following for objectives already "bagged."

24th April Colour First, Draw Last. At the pavilion due to low ambient temperatures. Bring watercolour paper, a few of your favourite acrylic paint or ink colours. Rag to paint with. Charcoal or black ink brush or pen to draw with once dry. Also a candle and or oil pastels to act as a resist.
1st May: Plan B, Pavilion. Still life with blossom. See email of 29th April.
8th May: Henley, Looking Up. (Helen) Fill a page with the top floors and roof lines in the centre of Henley, as strips of painting or drawing with strong outlines, to form something like a layer cake on your page. Probably not at all like the example shown here! Meet & finish in front of the Town Hall.

15th May: If inside the topic will be "The Green Man" as suggested by Helen in the email to you. Look at the explanation of who and what makes a Green Man and also see the images for ideas on what you might do. Any medium - perhaps collage might be good.
If outdoors, the objective will be "Leaves" so prepare your approach to a piece of art work based on the leaves which surround us, new, withered, large, small, playing with different shapes, patterns, monochrome, coloured, abstract - anything goes.
22nd May Sue Ryder courtesy of Edward paint in the Hospice garden
The theme will be reflections in water, for which we will use the large pond on the lawn behind the hospice building. See Edward's email for directions.
29th May Location: Edward and Anne’s garden - it would be helpful if those attending come with suggestions for an objective for the session. Perhaps it could be to use an abstract approach and also remember that we will be doing trees next week.
5th June Helen’s garden, White Acres. Roger's Objective is trees - in full leaf, specimen, groups, colour, form, try a different medium, e.g. pencil, collage .... or discover a different way of representing trees from your usual approach.
